Platform Bed Assembly Instructions
Congratulations! You have purchased or are thinking about purchasing a platform bed from PlatformBeds.com. The following models are covered: Ranch, Sandia, E1 Paso or Mission Platform Beds.
Our platform beds are some of the easiest beds to assemble in the industry. The high quality workmanship
with which these beds are made ensure that you will have an easy time putting your new platform bed together.
Be sure to inspect your packaging when it arrives because some parts may appear to be lost, only to be found later
hidden inside a fold of cardboard or in the packing material. There have been occasions where customers have discarded
(even incenerated) the packaging only to find later that the parts they thought were missing were just well packaged
and happened to overlook them.
Tools You Will Need to Assemble Your Platform Bed
- Phillips Screwdriver
- Rubber Mallet
- Optional: One Friend
Parts List
- 2 long bed legs-headboard
- 2 short legs
- 2 crosspieces w/ small holes
- 2 crosspieces w7 large holes or slots (for dowels or slats)
- 2 side rails with ledges
- 1/2" dowels or slats
- 1 center support
- 1 strapped slat roll
- 4-5/8" shoulder screws
- 2-1 1/4" screws

Headboard Assembly
- Lay out and identify all pieces before beginning. Refer to illustration A.
- Prop up third crosspiece so holes or slots are on top and connectors on ends open up.
- Insert dowels or slats into the crosspiece. For the El Paso put the shortest dowels in end holes.
- Hold the second crosspiece with the holes or slots facing down over the dowels.
- Starting at the right end, insert the first dowel or slat into the first hole. Slip rubber band over the right ends as shown in illustration B.
- Continue from right to left inserting one dowel or slat at a time until all dowels or slats are inserted. Slip second rubber band over left end to hold the crosspieces, thus trapping the dowels or slats.
- Turn over completed unit and connect to headboard leg, gently tapping top of assembly down until snug.
Note: When connecting rails and crosspieces to legs, rail ends should be pushed down over pins.
- Add lower crosspiece to the same leg and tap down snug.
- Attach all the crosspieces simultaneously to the other headboard leg. Tap down snug. Note: It is important that all joints are tapped down completely.

Bed Frame Assembly
- Assemble footboard as shown.
- Tap down on crosspieces using rubber mallet to make sure all joints are snug.
Note: When connecting rails and crosspieces to legs, rail ends should be pushed down over pins.
- Install four 5/8" shoulder screws into the predrilled holes in the lower crosspieces.
- Attach the headboard to the footboard using the two side rails.
- Attach the center support rail to the headboard and footboard lower crosspieces.
- Tap down rails and center support until snug.
Note: It is important that all joints are tapped down completely.
- Install four pins in the holes in the side rail ledges.
- Lay out slat roll, straps up, so that the end slats overlap pins.
- Important: Screw center slat to side rail ledge using two 1 1/4" screws.
Optional Extra Bed Instructions
- Layout and identify parts.
- Remember that crosspiece with shoulder screw holes and holes for dowels is the bottom footboard piece.
- Assemble unit as in illustration B.
- Install into footboard as a unit.
