Now - Futon Assembly Instructions/Directions
You've found
this page maybe because you're curious how the futons on our website
are assembled or maybe you've lost the instructions for your futon
frame that you purchased from years past. We thought for the convenience
of our customers that we should try offering animated assembly instructions
rather than picture instructions to better explain how futon frames
go together. We hope these assembly directions will be of help. Please
note that most futon frames are made very similar to the instructions
we show below but some frames may vary slightly from these instructions.
Futon
Assembly Directions - Step 1.
Laying out the
wood parts and futon hardware.
Futon
Assembly Directions - Step 2.
To begin assembling your futon take the two futon arms. (Making
sure the routed out grooves face in towards each other.) and two
rails. Connect the arms and rails together by placing the barrel
nuts into each bored out hole in the rail. Then run your screws
through the outside of the arms and into the barrel nuts in the
rails using your Allen wrench to secure them (don't tighten yet).
Leave one side of the back rail loose.

Assembly Directions - Step 3.
Next we'll prep the back rack section and insert its hardware. Find
the four nylon rollers and four metal pins. Locate two sets of pre-drilled
holes on the sides of your back rack that are close together. Push
the metal pin through the smaller end of the roller (as shown in the
animation to the left) and push it all the way through the predrilled
holes in the back rack. Use a washer than cotter clip on the other
side to secure them.

Now bring the seat section over to the back rack section. The seat
section has two holes drilled into it. Find the hole closest to one
end (as shown in the animation to the right) and line this up to the
remaining hole in the back section and run your metal pin through
and use a washer and cotter clip to secure it. Next find the rectangular
shaped wood blocks and attach these using the same method used to
secure the nylon rollers into the remaining holes of the seat section.
Futon Assembly Directions - Step 5. Now we're ready to insert the nylon rollers that are attached
on the back section into the routed out grooves in the futon arms.
Start on one side. In the animation to the left, you'll see that the
top roller goes into the horizontal groove and the bottom roller goes
into the vertical groove. (Make sure the bolts on one side of the
back stretcher are loose so the arm can be pulled out enough to safely
move the rollers into place.) Repeat with the rollers on the other
side and tighten the bolts on each arm.
Futon Assembly Directions - Step 6.
Your futon frame is assembled and ready to go. If you have a non-slip
pad lay that out over the seat section then place your mattress on
on the frame. The non-slip pad will help reduce any slipping that
may occur between the frame and mattress. A new cover, square pillows
and bolster pillows will dress up the look of your frame as well.
If you're ready for a new look consider adding these as well.
